Cancun Beaches
It won't take long for the waves of crystal
clear water and warm sand beaches of Cancun to relieve your stress. If
your idea of a dream vacation is lying around, listening to the ocean and
soaking up some rays, then Cancun is perfect. In some beaches in
Mexico you will be constantly harassed to buy a necklace, a hat or some
other worthless item. Cancun beaches are surprisingly free from
interruptions, especially at the larger hotels.
Cancun beaches have more of a South American
influence than beaches in the US. That means that you will see more
women without tops and men in tiny Speedos scattered around. You will
also hear more Spanish spoken. The staff at any hotel that deals with
the public is bilingual so learning the language isn't a requirement.
Because of familiar stores and restaurants you will feel like you are in the
US and not Mexico on occasion.
This month's tip:
Don't jump into the ocean until you are familiar with your surroundings. Cancun has large boulders in the shallow waters so jumping in blindly could be dangerous.
Please be aware of the beach warning flags. A red flag means that the water conditions are dangerous because of undercurrents or high surf. A purple flag means that there is dangerous marine life in the area. (think jelly fish)
